About this solution

Neon has become a decorative element again because it photographs well. In a bar, a café or a photo corner, a lit line does more for a place's visibility online than almost any other fitting — because it ends up in the pictures guests take.

It is made from flexible LED neon rather than glass gas tube: a silicone profile with LEDs inside, giving the same continuous line of light. It runs at low voltage, does not get hot, does not break, and can be mounted within reach of people — which in a public space matters more than nostalgia for the original tube.

The line bends to any drawing: handwritten text, an outline, a shape from the brand. It mounts on clear acrylic backing, which leaves only the light visible, or on backing cut to the outline, which reads as an object on the wall.

Two things matter at the design stage: the weight of the line, because a thin typeface cannot be rendered in neon below a certain size, and the cable route, which in a complicated drawing has to be hidden somewhere.

Frequently asked questions

All frequently asked questions
Is it real neon or LED?

Flexible LED neon. It looks like classic neon — the same continuous line of light — but runs at low voltage, uses far less power, does not get hot and does not break. For a public space where people pass close by, that is the difference that matters.

Can it follow handwriting or a logo?

Yes, provided the line has enough weight. Thin handwriting or a high-contrast typeface cannot be reproduced below a certain size, because the neon profile has a minimum thickness. The drawing is usually adjusted a little — the line thickened, fine detail simplified — and the result stays recognisable.

How much does a neon sign cost?

It is costed per linear metre of neon rather than by the area of the sign — which means a thin, long piece of lettering can cost more than a short, thick one even though it takes up the same space on the wall. The number of colours matters too, because each is a separate run, as does the backing: clear acrylic or cut to the outline.
