Facade signs

The facade sign is the first thing a client sees. We design and build it around the architecture of the building and the city's rules.

About this solution

The facade sign is the first thing a customer sees and often the only reason they come in. It is not simply a logo on a wall: it is a composition that has to account for the proportions of the building, the facade material, the angle people approach from, and what happens to it after dark.

Most often it is built as a fascia — a continuous composite aluminium panel above the shopfront — carrying 3D letters or a lightbox. Composite gives a flat, clean surface even where the wall is not, hides the cabling, and provides a controlled background for the letters above it.

For buildings with several tenants, coherence matters more than size: the same fascia height, the same kind of illumination and the same setback from the edge of the glazing make every sign look better than each doing as it pleased.

Design also accounts for what comes after installation: how the drivers are reached, how it is cleaned, how a module is changed. A facade three metres up is maintained from a ladder; one at twelve needs a lift — and that is decided when the fixing method is chosen, not afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

All frequently asked questions
What is an advertising fascia?

It is the continuous panel fixed to the facade, usually above the shopfront, that acts as the background for the sign. Most often made from composite aluminium. Its job is to give a flat, uniform surface, hide cabling and wall irregularities, and mark out the sign's space clearly.

Can a sign be fixed to an insulated facade?

Yes, but the fixing does not go into the insulation: it anchors into the structure behind it, with elements passing through the insulating layer, and the penetrations are sealed. Knowing what is under the finish in advance is essential, because the whole fixing system depends on it.

How much does a facade sign cost?

A facade sign is usually two things in one price: the fascia — the composite aluminium panel, costed per square metre — and what sits on it, letters or a box, costed separately. Added to that are the state of the wall, because an insulated or uneven facade needs a fixing structure a concrete one does not, and the working height. Send us a photograph of the facade with its approximate width and we will say what it involves.
